The editorial that was deemed flowery for Somaiya standards...

“We don’t have to be great to start, but we have to start to be great”
We dreamt of being great..we dreamt of leaving our indelible footprints on the sands of time..and when we entered the canvas of reality we followed Lig Liglar’s advice in our pursuit of painting the perfect picture by starting. We worked hard to give it all that we had and now we can proudly say that we made a difference.
The past year has been a journey full of emotions, successes, failures and lessons, lessons for life. When we started the year the cups of our souls were empty, but now they are fuller with myriad experiences of an unforgettable path. The seeds of our spirits have burgeoned in the spring of incidents to show us the latent talents that lay hidden in our buds.
We started last year with the mission of uncovering such dormant talent which resides in every Somaiyaite and we succeeded. Team Illuminati had waited for three years to prove that it was no longer in the embryonic stages of development. A revitalized strength of 40 members was a shot in the arm for our Literary baby. Animated discussions and innovative activities were the norm for every weekly meeting that Illuminati conducted.
The crests of achievement for Team Illuminati came when we successfully organized the intra-collegiate events of ROLEPLAY and DEBATE in the odd semester to a warm response. The immense popularity of Illuminati organized events during Symphony proved that our success was not just a flash in the pan. The exuberance of fresh events like POLITICAL KALEIDOSCOPE, LIT-A-THON and ROLEPLAY played the perfect foil to established events like MUN, SPELLING BEE, DEBATE while WORD-O-KER made a dashing debut with the need to close the registration due to time constraints.
Being the writers (for the letters, reports, articles, publicity material, etc) for the council, we have enjoyed the freedom to expressing our thoughts. This has also given us a chance to interact with various people. A special memory that remains etched in our minds is that of the closing ceremony of the silver jubilee celebration when we had Dr. A. P. J. Kalam preside over the celebrations. The second most riveting memory remains that of Symphony with Suraj Jagan’s “Give Me Some Sunshine” still making us nostalgic about the year that has passed by.
The cup is full and before it overflows let us thank all those who have generously poured. A special thanks to Ankit, Almaas, Suruchi, and Jinal for being constructive forces full of energy and enthusiasm throughout the year. A specific mention of Abhishek Nair for being with us every time we needed his guidance. Thankfulness to the entire council(our second family) for being proactive in giving inputs and assistance along with constant motivation. We take this opportunity to thank Prof. Sudha Gupta for always encouraging us to pursue our ideas. We are extremely grateful to Prof. Usha Padmanabhan and Prof. Milind Marathe, for their great help with the magazine. We are highly obliged to Principal Ma’am for giving us the freedom to colour this magazine with the rainbow of our imagination.
We would like to conclude by giving this message to our successors.
“A seed while growing makes no sound
A tree while falling makes a huge noise
Destruction is noisy
Creation is always quiet
BE QUIET! BE CREATIVE! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF”
ALL THE VERY BEST!!!
